Лечение рака рта в Израиле

Oral Cancer Treatment in IsraelThe treatment of oral cancer  in Israel is complex and is carried out using the latest achievements of world oncology.

Many medical tourists prefer to undergo diagnosis and treatment of various types of cancer, including oral cancer therapy, in the best private clinic in Israel, Herzliya Medical Center. Oral cancer is an oncological disease that develops in a given area of the body. Cancer can affect both the lips and localize in any part of the oral mucosa. An oncological disease originating in the inside of the mouth is also called oral cancer.

Oral cancer belongs to the group of oncological diseases of the head and neck.

Symptoms of Mouth Cancer

Clinical manifestations of oral cancer may include:

  • long unhealed painful mouth sores;
  • the appearance of pain in the mouth, including tongue, jaw, throat;
  • thickening of the oral mucosa;
  • white or reddish spots on the inside of the mouth;
  • weakening and loss of teeth;
  • difficulty or chewing or swallowing;
  • hoarseness;
  • a sensation of the presence of a foreign body in the throat.

Diagnosis of oral cancer

The studies and procedures used to diagnose oral cancer can include the following procedures:

  • Medical checkup. During the medical examination, the doctor will examine the lips and oral cavity, and will search for abnormal areas on the mucous membrane. An extensive biochemical blood test, including tumor markers;
  • A biopsy is a microscopic sampling of cells for laboratory research from a discovered cancer suspect. The sample is checked for cancer or precancerous lesions, indicating a risk of further development of the cancer process.

The degree of development of the disease is also established through computer imaging tests such as:  X-ray , computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET).
The attending physician determines which of the above studies are individually suitable based on the patient’s condition. The stages of the development of oral cancer are assigned Roman numbers from I to IV, depending on the degree of prevalence of cancer in the body.

Oral Cancer Treatments in Israel

Treatment of patients diagnosed with oral cancer in Israel is prescribed depending on the location and stage of the disease, and the patient’s personal wishes are also taken into account. The main type of treatment for oral cancer is surgical.

  • Surgery to remove the tumor. During surgery, a tumor and nearby areas of healthy tissue are excised. Small local neoplasms can be removed during a small and simple operation. Solid tumors may require more extensive procedures, and surgery may also include removal of part of the jawbone or tongue;
  • In cases where the cancer cells have spread to the cervical lymph nodes, then their removal will also be required;
  • Surgical reconstruction of the mouth. After surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in the mouth, reconstructive surgery may be necessary to restore the patient’s face, as well as the ability to speak and eat. It is possible to transplant autologous (own) grafts from the skin, muscles or bones from other parts of the patient’s body for face reconstruction, and the installation of dental implants will replace lost teeth.

Oral cancer chemotherapy

For chemotherapy courses, cytostatic drugs are used that can destroy and stop the growth of cancer cells. Chemotherapeutic drugs  are often prescribed in the form of a cocktail containing several drugs or in combination with other antitumor drugs.

Targeted (targeted) drug therapy

Targeted drugs, such as Cetuximab, are used to treat oral cancer and prevent the growth of cancer cells. Targeted drugs successfully complement the complex treatment of this disease.

Herzliya Medical Center, a leading Israeli private clinic, pays special attention to the implementation of the latest developments in world medicine.
